Bullying and popularity: Bullying and victimization in elementary schools: A comparison of bullies, victims, bully/victims, and uninvolved preadolescents
Research toward bullying often only concerns a few factors and is limited to information from one informant. Because of this, researchers know too little about the complete picture of the various variables, and research is marked by the so-called ‘shared method variance’. The data from this study was based on multiple informants and is large and rich enough to investigate more factors. Gender, aggressiveness, isolation and rejection were most strongly related to bullying.
The results differed from previous research in that not only victims or bully/victim were found to be rejected by class-mates, but bullies as well. Furthermore, upbringing characteristics were not related to bullying.
